In 1907 the one dollar coin was reduced in size and the design simplified. The reverse still features a scroll ornament with the Chinese characters YAT YUEN in the top and bottom quadrants and the Malay characters SATU RINGGIT from left to right (both meaning one dollar). The reverse legend reads STRAITS SETTLEMENTS ONE DOLLAR followed by the date. The obverse features a crowned bust of King Edward VII with the legend, EDWARD VII KING & EMPEROR by Royal Mint engraver, George W. De Saules. The issue was struck in all years from 1907 to 1909 with the Heaton mint supplementing production in 1907 with its coins identifiable by a H mintmark. All issues can be obtained without significant expense though the 1907-H is rather scarce especially if sought in mint state.
